As someone who has contracted a chest infection from being in a car with a ride-share driver (who coughed and spluttered the whole trip), the chance of transmission for these drivers in their workplace is massive. As frustrating as it was to be 10 days in bed with the illness, the fact that this guy had the same thing as me, but had to go to work to make money was not lost on me.

The people who turn to this as a full time option, often lack anything else as an option. Ride-share workers need to unionise to gain some ability to negotiate improved protections. Uber already struggles to turn a profit, they are broken.
